Illinois Ranks 45th in Nation in Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth

A new study from the Archbridge Institute ranked Illinois 45th in the nation for entrepreneurship and economic growth confirming what many of us have been saying for years. The policies coming out of Springfield are making it harder for families and job creators to succeed.

This ranking comes from a broader study on social mobility, which measures a person’s ability to improve their quality of life and economic well-being. While Illinois ranked 38th overall, our poor performance in entrepreneurship and growth is especially concerning. Every state bordering Illinois ranked higher in that category, showing just how far we have fallen behind our neighbors.

I hear it all the time from businesses and workers across the district. High taxes, burdensome regulations, and rising costs are making it more difficult to grow, invest, and stay competitive here in Illinois.

For too long, the governor and his allies have pushed policies that make our state less affordable and less competitive. Until we change course and focus on policies that support growth, affordability, and opportunity, businesses will continue to struggle, and we will keep losing jobs and residents to other states.
