I am deeply concerned about the proposed cuts to disability services included in the governor’s latest budget proposal. At a time when support systems should be strengthened, the governor and Democratic lawmakers are moving in the wrong direction for some of the most vulnerable members of our society.
These services are not extras. They provide essential support that helps individuals and families navigate daily challenges with dignity and stability.
Our residents with disabilities and the providers who help them already operate under significant strain. Further reductions risk limiting access to care and placing additional burdens on families who depend on these programs.
Illinois should be focused on protecting and supporting those who need help the most. I will continue reviewing the details of this proposal and advocating for policies that prioritize responsible spending while ensuring our most vulnerable residents are not left behind.
