Senator Arellano Jr. Secures Key Roles on Seven Committees

State Senator Li Arellano, Jr has been appointed as the Republican Spokesperson for the Illinois Senate’s Public Health Committee. In addition to his newly appointed leadership role, he will serve on six other Senate committees during his first term in office.

“It’s an honor to be selected for this important role and to take a deeper dive into critical issues through the committee process,” said Senator Arellano, Jr. “Committees play a vital role in shaping legislation. This is where we closely examine bills, ask important questions, and hear testimony from the public.”

With each new general assembly comes new appointments and committee assignments. Senator Arellano, Jr was sworn into his first term in office on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, and will serve on the following Senate Committees: Health and Human Services, Local Government, Pensions, Public Health (Minority Spokesperson), State Government, Veterans Affairs, and Appropriations – Health and Human Services.

 “As a former Mayor of Dixon, I’ve seen firsthand how local government functions and the challenges of our state’s pension system,” said Senator Arellano, Jr. “As a veteran, I am especially honored to serve on the Veterans Affairs Committee, where I will work to support our state’s heroes and cut through the red tape that too often stands in their way.”

Senator Arellano, Jr proudly represents Illinois’ 37th Senate District, which includes all or parts of Bureau, DeKalb, Henry, LaSalle, Lee, Marshall, Ogle, Peoria, Rock Island, Stark, Whiteside, and Woodford counties.
